Asetek has continued its impressive entry into the world of sim racing by providing its community of peripheral owners with a much-requested feature.

After some complaints over the relatively short travel range of its Invicta pedalset brake, the Danish manufacturer went back to the drawing board and came up with its Invicta™ Long Travel Kit.

Asetek CEO André Eriksen gives a thorough run through of the Long Travel Kit

The Long Travel Kit swaps out the original piston found on the Invicta brake pedal for a longer one, providing 35mm of brake travel (as opposed to 25mm).

Users can therefore feel a noticeable change in the distance they can push the brake, simulating road and rally cars in-game much better, something described by Asetek CEO André Eriksen in a detailed video breakdown (above).

Eriksen also talks us through calculations used to prove how a softer elastomer should be fitted alongside the Long Travel Kit to help achieve similar braking performance to the standard piston.

The difference between the standard Invicta piston and the Long Travel Kit piston is clear to see

If this is not done, the extra travel from the piston requires 33% extra leg effort to achieve the same braking performance. Which is good if you’ve skipped leg day, but bad if you want consistent sim racing results.

The Asetek Long Travel Kit is available to purchase now from Asetek’s online shop, priced at €15.96.
