North Yorkshire’s Croft Circuit heading to rFactor 2 simulator

Croft, a tricky circuit based in the North of England, is set to receive its first ever laser-scan to form part of this month’s rFactor 2 DLC drop.

North Yorkshire's Croft Circuit heading to rFactor 2 simulator

This is a news story, so I ordinarily wouldn’t add subjective opinion to a headline. But, for this, I’ll make an exception.

No, it’s not Spa-Francorchamps, Circuit de Barcelona or Indianapolis. The next circuit to be made available for PC driving simulator rFactor 2 is… Croft.

Hardly glamorous, the ex-airfield in North Yorkshire, England is, however, one of the best venues in the United Kingdom to spectate motorsport at.

We would say it’s up there to drive too, but as it hasn’t been officially featured in a game or sim since the 1990s, that’s hard to tell. This is also the very first time it has been laser scanned for the virtual world too.

But what we can say is that its combination of the high-speed Jim Clark Esses and extremely low-speed Hairpin make for a car set-up compromise, but also usually excellent racing.

Croft Circuit BTCC in rFactor 2

It’s held the British Touring Car Championship since 1997, which ties in with the platforms’ officially licenced BTCC content. It follows the likes of Donington Park and Brands Hatch, available to purchase from May of this year. Also released this month is the BMW 330i car from the series.

No specific release date or price for Croft has been revealed yet, but we expect developer Studio 397 to reveal all within a week based on prior update schedules.
