This week EA confirmed that there would be no sequel to EA SPORTS WRC and that there are no current plans for Codemasters to make rally games in future. We opine why this is bad news for the British studio and for sim racers as a whole.

Codemasters is “pausing development plans on future rally titles.” Meanwhile, the WRC series is set to go in an “ambitious new direction” according to the organiser.

Codemasters has signed a five-year deal with the WRC to develop licenced videogames from 2023 onwards, it has been revealed.

DiRT Rally 2.0 is undoubtedly one of the best rally simulators, and we’ve been chomping at the bit to see if someone who is great at the game can transfer those skills into real-life success. After yesterday’s shock announcement about the future of EA SPORTS WRC, tell us which of Codemasters’ rally games you think was best.

For the first time in five years, the fan-favourite My Team mode is getting a significant revamp in F1 25.

The Southam-based Codemasters driving team seems to be no more following the cancellation of the WRC project and the halting of rally game development. EA has confirmed the reduction of “some roles” and also the “redeployment” of others.
