The EA Play service will soon have a handful of games from the Codemasters racing game library included in subscription-based membership. A tweet from the EA Play account teased three titles that were “next up on The Play List.” F1 2020, DiRT 5 and the latest GRID game boxes were all on display in the graphic.

F1 2020 is last year’s Formula 1 game title, now the older version with the release of F1 2021 last month. DiRT 5 is the latest game in the series, launching in November of 2020.

GRID has its lineage in TOCA Race Driver series and launched in October 2019 – ahead of GRID Legends next year.

All three games are solid racing titles and will be decent addons to the EA service that only really includes a bunch of Need For Speed titles.

In response to the question of when these titles would be joining, the Twitter account replied “soon”. The Xbox Game Pass site went further and gave the date for their console service to be adding five games in total on 10th August. Those titles include GRID and F1 2020, but also include DiRT 4, DiRT Rally and DiRT Rally 2.0.

DiRT 5 is already a title on Xbox Game Pass on either PC and console, but if users don’t have Game Pass and do have EA Play separately, they will gain access to DIRT 5. EA Play is an included perk of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service on the console level or on the Ultimate level of membership.

EA Play itself is a bit confusing. It’s a membership by subscription, either $4.99 for a month or $29.99 for a year. It covers only one service, however, so if you have an Xbox Series X, a PlayStation 5 and a PC with Steam, you’ll need to pay for the service on all three individually. There are also memberships for Origin and EA Desktop with an EA Play Pro option.

What we don’t know with all of this with the way it’s worded is if GRID and F1 2020 are coming to EA Play subscribers on PC via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. We also don’t know if DiRT Rally, DiRT 4 and DiRT Rally 2.0 are going to be on EA Play for PC and PlayStation subscribers. When we find out, we’ll let you know. Stay tuned.
