Wreckreation developer promises “you won’t be waiting long” for its release

While there’s still no release date or window, Three Fields says it’s “taking a little extra time to put the final polish” on Wreckreation.

Following a flurry of social media teasers, Wreckreation made an appearance at last week’s THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2025 stream, with the first new trailer since 2023.

While the trailer showcased its chaotic arcade racing and destruction reminiscent of Burnout, Wreckreation still doesn’t have a release date or window, making a 2025 release seem unlikely. However, posts on Wreckreation’s X, formerly Twitter, page, suggest its release may not be too far away.

Responding to a user asking about the lack of release date information, developer Three Fields Entertainment assures we “won’t be waiting long” for Wreckreation to launch on PC and consoles.

“We had some great testing feedback that we really want to implement, so we’re just adding some extra polish to the game,” the post reads. “But you won’t be waiting long, we promise.”

Another post reveals that Wreckreation is undergoing “final polish” to make it the “best it can be.”

“We’re taking a little extra time to put the final polish on the game! Your support means so much to us and we want to make sure it’s the best it can be for you guys. We’re a small team of 10 but we’re working hard to get this to you asap and THQ have been hugely supportive of us in this.”

Earlier this year, Three Fields announced that Wreckreation is in “finalling mode,” implying it was in the final stages of development. This was corroborated with a statement from THQ Nordic sent to Traxion confirming that Wreckreation is “very much alive and in active development.”

First announced in 2020 when it was known as Dangerous Driving 2, Wreckreation is an arcade racer set in a 400-square-kilometre “MixWorld,” where players can create crazy stunt tracks and add sections in real time with other players.

With its open-world setting, spectacular crashes, and veteran Burnout developers working on the game, Wreckreation is shaping up to be a spiritual successor to Burnout Paradise, with elements from Trackmania.

Wreckreation is currently slated for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in the trailers, but digital store pages still list PS4 and Xbox One versions. We’ve reached out to THQ Nordic for clarification.
