Today, eight months later, the Ivory Tower development studio has provided an update, and it’s somewhat mixed.
First, no, these are not complete yet and no, they aren’t coming soon. But, they are both on the roadmap, with The Crew 2’s offline features set to roll out first and in active development.
“Select” members of the game’s community will be part of “several tests” of a new offline mode, which is set for release before the end of 2025.
But, it’s a ‘hybrid mode’ and not a completely offline mode just yet.
“The Crew 2 has originally been developed to be played online,” said Grégory Corgié, Producer on The Crew titles.
“Thus, we will need to adapt the experience. This is why we need to run several tests before releasing the final version of the offline mode, allowing us to refine and balance the content.
“Some features will be maintained, others will be adapted. For instance, specific parts of multiplayer modes will no longer be available when playing offline.
“The final list of those features will be published as soon as we can.
“The initial stages [of The Crew 2 offline mode development are] progressing smoothly.”
It has also been confirmed that work is being done on the older game first, naturally, so don’t expect The Crew Motorfest (which is still set up to receive several live-service updates “in the years to come”) to receive offline features anytime soon.
The first test will begin on 30th April 2025 on PC only, although the offline mode will hit all platforms once complete.
