In Reiza Studios’ giant December dev update yesterday (26th December), not only did news drop on what’s coming to Automobilista 2 in the short time left before the end of this year, but also what’s in store for 2023.
The massive posting had a lot in it. With less than a week to go in 2022, Reiza is planning on releasing new content before its all said and over with, including a historical track pack, classic Formula 1 cars, Supercars and even some new Nissan branded racing machines.
After the calendar switches over to 2023, however, there’s plenty more to get excited about. From even more new content to enhancements in existing areas, Automobilista 2 will look to continue and increase its stock among the other simulation racing platforms well into the new year.
MULTIPLAYER IMPROVEMENTS EXPECTED
One thing that other platforms such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione and RaceRoom have is the ability to provide decent quality racing over the internet at just about any time. Automobilista 2 has online multiplayer capabilities, but it’s not where it could be, and the dev team knows it.
“Multiplayer is still an area users have been urging for further improvements on, and we’ve been spending a lot of time over the last few months looking for the structural reforms needed for a more robust multiplayer experience,” said Reiza Studios’ Studio Head and Project Manager, Renato Simioni, in the Reiza forums on Monday.
“Although not many fruits have come from it yet, we’re confident we have learned enough to achieve some significant progress over the course of 2023. Once we do, offering scheduled races will be the logical next step (we are already experimenting with it in Beta).”
MORE MODDING SUPPORT TOO
While some sims don’t really mess with game modification too much, Automobilista 2 started offering mod support not too long ago. Reiza is insistent that the Madness Engine was not made to mod with, but also acknowledges that it will be a good thing to have for the game to have longevity.
With that all in mind, while nothing is set in stone, Reiza Studios is “looking into some achievable measures to try at least reduce some of those difficulties” as far as making mods are concerned. They also hope to offer resources and a subforum for modders to have a shareable database.
OLD (AND NEW) NÜRBURGRING COMING IN JANUARY
Fans of The Green Hell, past and present, will be pleased to know that something that is scheduled to make its way to Automobilista 2 is the Nürburgring Historic 1971 track as a part of the existing Nürburgring DLC pack.
The track is slated for a January 2023 release, and will also come included with an updated modern version of the track as well.
While this track was hoped to have been released in 2022, this should be the very first update that AMS2 racers will get to enjoy in the new year.
OTHER SCHEDULED RELEASES
2023 is looking fresh for Automobilista 2 already, but how about even more new things to look forward to?
There will a new pack of content called the Adrenaline Pack DLC which brings with it dirt track and rallycross racing. The Pt1 of that Adrenaline Pack DLC is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.
Q1 in 2023 will also see a sixth “bonus premium track” added to the existing Premium Expansion Pack DLC, but that track is still to be announced. Also, there will be a Racin’ USA Bonus Pack DLC that is expected in the second quarter of 2023.
Absolutely zero details were given on that last piece other than it will be a part of the full Racin’ USA DLC pack as a bonus… This could end up being the residual content that was originally planned for the main pack but due to licensing had to be removed, or it could be something else to make up for that content.
The future is bright for AMS2, Reiza Studios and 2023. What are you most looking forward to seeing come from these planned improvements? Let us know down in the comments!
