The current season’s paint schemes are heading to rFactor 2 for BTCC fans, and they will be a free addition.

Following a spate of official British Touring Car Championship content for venerable PC racing simulator rFactor 2, the most recent season’s livery designs are on the way too.

Arriving as part of an additional December update, anyone with existing BTCC cars, or who purchases them henceforth, will receive both the real-world 2021 and 2022 designs.

These will be selectable within the game’s user interface too, so for online or AI races, in theory, you can select the individual seasons. Each driver’s individual personal sponsors will be represented too.

The Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra was a new announcement and will be released at the same time as the paint schemes as paid DLC. The current BTCC cars available for rFactor 2 are:

  • BMW 330i
  • Hyundai i30 N Performance
  • Infiniti Q50
  • Toyota Corolla
  • Ford Focus ST

That leaves just the Honda Civic and Cupra Leon as models not yet available.

Designs to look out for are Ashley Sutton and Dan Cammish’s striking NAPA Racing UK Fords and the predominately white-based Team BMW entries, as opposed to 2021’s darker hues.

Changes to the car’s relative performance will also be made, although it’s not clear as to the specifics at this stage. Developer Studio 397 claims in its blog post that it’s to do with balancing front and rear-wheel-drive models.

Both the new looks and the Astra are set to arrive on the 21st December, while the hybrid system introduced this season in the real-world is in development for a 2023 launch.
