Last month, we reported that Electronic Arts and Codemasters’ F1 Mobile Racing has a huge 2022 update incoming. In a blog post today, (9th June 2022) the development team has gone on to reveal more about the forthcoming revised R&D game mechanic, plus a list of new car parts set to arrive for the popular iOS and Android mobile game.
The new for 2022 parts include wheel winglets, wheel covers (think of McLaren’s Google Chrome inspired efforts this season) and improved engine cover vents, among others. Each part affects the stats of your car: wheel covers help cool brakes, for example, shortening brake distances.
Parts stats have all been rebalanced ahead of the 2022 update and R&D slots for chassis parts will now be unlocked quicker to aid speedier car development. Chassis parts will also now have a maximum upgrade level of 13 going forward.

Old parts – named ‘Legacy Parts’ – which will be incompatible with the new cars can be traded in for currency, with rare, high-level or ‘Legendary Parts’ earning more. Exact figures have yet to be revealed, however.
