Release date confirmed for off-road racer MX vs ATV Legends

THQ Nordic has confirmed that its famous off-road racing franchise will return with the release of MX vs ATV Legends on 24th May this year.

Last year (27th September 2021) we reported on the game’s unveiling during THQ Nordic’s 10th Anniversary digital showcase, revealing that it will feature a two-player split-screen and a comprehensive ‘Legends’ career mode.

The ability to gain sponsorship, customise your riding avatar and take multi-branched paths towards overall glory hints at a long term single-player experience.

The last MX vs ATV game was released in 2018, and the formula of fun Motocross (MX), All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) racing continue. The ATVs and UTVs – quad bikes and small four-wheel-drive trucks respectively – are four-wheel counterpoints to the classic Motocross bikes and provide a slightly different challenge to players.

THQ Nordic has focused on enhancing the handling of all vehicles and how they interact with muddy berms and ruts, something players will be able to test out online against up to 15 other human opponents.

The latest update highlights the new Trails Mode, where players can take advantage of the high-detail open-world landscapes to forge new paths to beat the opposition in point-to-point races, evoking memories of 2006’s MotorStorm on PlayStation 3.

The game is set to be released across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and can be pre-ordered on PlayStation and Microsoft digital stores right now.

The base game costs £34.99/$39.99/€39.99 from the PlayStation Store and £34.99/$39.99/€39.99 from the Microsoft Store.
