Off-road racer MX vs ATV Legends unveiled, coming to old and new consoles

Off-road driving and riding fans, a new game is coming your way in the form of MX vs ATV Legends, revealed during THQ Nordic’s 10th Anniversary digital showcase.

The new game will be releasing on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and once again fuses the worlds of motocross, ATV racing and UTV (or side-by-side) dirt action to deliver the seventh game in the long-running game series.

Alongside the new console release, the focus appears to be on a new ‘Legends’ career mode, where selecting your own sponsors and invitational events for your customised rider will lead to different paths leading to completion and world glory.

In action, the MX vs ATV series has used manual in-air control, so timing and executing those mid-jump whips will be key and the physics system is said to be revised when compared to the most recent franchise entry, All Out in 2018.

A nice bonus will be two-player split-screen or 16-player squad-based gameplay across the vast open level areas.

The teaser trailer does not show much in terms of gameplay, but YouTube content creator windham151 was able to show some silent pre-alpha footage of the game in action, embedded below. Here we can see a dramatic increase in environment detail, varied environments from arenas to barren wastelands and a coastal free-roam area.

No release date is known yet for the Rainbow Studios developed title, which also released Monster Jam Steel Titans 2 earlier this year, but as soon as we hear more, we’ll keep you updated.
