We’re getting ever close to Assetto Corsa Competizione’s Challengers Pack DLC release date of 23rd March, and today Kunos Simulazioni has teased us with a trailer for the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992).

Set to be used in one-make national Porsche championships around the globe this year – after being introduced to the F1 supporting Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in 2021 – is the latest in a long line of Porsche Cup cars dating back to 1990.

Official figures show that Porsche has sold over 4,250 examples of its Cup car worldwide.

The new Porsche joins the Challengers Pack along with the already announced BMW M2 CS Racing, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 and Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II.

In terms of single-make series performance, the 500 bhp+ Porsche sits between the Lamborghini and BMW, with the Audi joining the game’s GT3 roster. Already available in iRacing since September last year, it will be interesting to see how the car compares across the two sims, and we’ll be able to find out when the DLC releases on 23rd March.

We fully expect the Ferrari 488 Challenge teased last year to be revealed during the Ferrari Velas Esports Series 2022 launch event on 22nd March, but after the recent announcement of its 2023 real-world 488 GT3 replacement – the 296 GT3 – perhaps Kunos has more exciting news for us?

Last year, Marco Massarutto, Executive Manager at Kunos Simulazioni stated during a media briefing that they aimed to include around six or seven new cars from a fresh class of racing vehicle.

If we discount the recent Audi and BMW GT3 cars since they are in a pre-existing class, and with the Porsche, Lamborghini, BMW and Ferrari all but confirmed for the Challengers Pack, perhaps we will see more cars and tracks this year?

With the Circuit of the Americas coming to ACC, but still to be formally announced, we wonder if this hints at a dedicated track pack at some point in the future? What we do know however, is that the Challengers Pack will be released for PC only initially, with console release dates still to be announced.
