Gran Turismo 7’s new Spec IV update is so substantial that it’s being split into two parts. The first launches today (14th October), with the second following in December.

Here is everything you need to know about Gran Turismo 7’s Spec IV Part 1 update.

New title screen

In a nice touch, the title screen is updated with the original Gran Turismo’s Japanese artwork in homage to the series’ 30th anniversary.

New intro

As is traditional with the Spec builds, booting up the game presents you with a new cinematic intro, underscoring the update’s significance.

Six new cars

In terms of new vehicles, the first part of Spec IV adds six cars to GT7’s roster. It’s a typically eclectic lineup, crossing genres in freeform fashion like the game’s menu music. Where else can you find a free Citroën 2CV, a 1990s Ferrari and a modern MPV?

We’ve covered these in more detail in our accompanying article here.

  • Citroën 2CV 6 Charleston ’86 – Used Cars Dealership – 160.52pp – 33,000 credits
  • Ferrari F355 Berlinetta ’94 – Used Cars Dealership – 525.93pp – 360,000 credits
  • Honda Civic Si Group A version ’87 – Used Cars Dealership – 593.52pp – 125,000 credits
  • Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line ’23 – Brand Central – 305.81pp – 37,000 credits
  • Mazda RX-Vision GT3 EVO ‘26 – Brand Central – 723.08pp – 600,000 credits
  • Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo – Brand Central – 801.61pp – 1,000,000 credits

New track: SUGO International Racing Course

Sportsland Sugo is making its GT series debut, with the 2.3-mile-long track most famous for hosting real-world Super GT and Super Formula races.

Like Autumn Ring, which is due in Part 2 of the Spec IV update this December, Sugo is filled with cambered corners and unforgiving run-off areas, making it something of an anomaly in the modern motorsport world.

Opened in 1975, Sugo is classed as Japan’s largest motorsport venue owing to its attached karting and motocross facilities, with its final corner Dunlop bridge eminently recognisable across the globe.

New Brand Central features

Several new brands have been added to Brand Central, inlcuding Jeep, Lancia and Moza Racing. There are also new museums for Jeep in America and TVR in Europe.

Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV Part 1 Vintage

A new Vintage section lets you view cars from the year 2000 and earlier in brand dealerships. It’s essentially a shortcut to the Legend Car and Used Car dealerships, you to purchasee them directly if they are in stock.

Car Concierge

Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV Part 1 Car Concierge

This is combined with the new Car Concierge feature. Accessible to those who have reached the ending, it lets you order vehicles from the Vintage section by specifying the model, colour and condition.

This lets you secure cars that aren’t in stock without having to wait for them to appear in the Legend Car Dealership, for example, and pay for them on delivery, though this also requires a fee.

Up to four orders can be placed simultaneously depending on your Collector Level. Adding an extra slot requires Level 50 or above.

The following brands can be accessed in Vintage and Car Concierge:

Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV update Part 1: Everything you need to know

As with most Gran Turismo 7 updates, Spec IV Part 1 adds several new engine swaps for cars including the Citroën 2CV, Mazda RX-Vision and Lamborghini Diablo GT.

In terms of the new cars, straight out of the box the Citroën 2CV can have a B18C-Integra-’98 motor swapped in for some VTEC thrills, as can the Honda Civic Si Group A version ’87, which makes a bit more sense.

The Honda Step WGN has a choice of three engines; a K20C1 from a 2020 Honda Civic, Greening Motor Company’s beefy Windsor-351-Maverick V8, or most intriguingly of all, a V12-F3500-A from GT7’s ’90s Formula 1 car. Sensible.

Collector Level increase

The Collector Level cap has increased from 70 to 90.

Moza wheel support

Moza’s first PS5-compatible wheel isn’t out yet, but the latest update adds native support for the R5S Pro Racing wheel in Gran Turismo 7 ahead of its launch.
