Simagic has made a name for itself by producing accessible sim racing hardware at competitive prices, but has shied away from making licensed steering wheels.

This contrasts sharply with its contemporaries, with Thrustmaster, Moza, Logitech, and Fanatec all boasting partnerships with the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini.

That brings us to today (14th October 2026), when the Chinese company officially announced its first collaboration with a car manufacturer and publicly unveiled the Aston Martin Valkyrie Steering Wheel.

Inputs

Naturally based on the road-going Valkyrie hypercar’s wheel, the sim version mirrors the original’s look and button layout, but because the original is a $3 million car, Simagic had to make some economies to hit its RRP of $799.

To be honest, it’s hard to see exactly where, given that the switchgear (four silver toggles: two five-way switches and two self-return levers, plus the start-stop button) is CNC-machined alloy. There’s a bit of play in their action, and the button shroud feels quite plasticy, but any concerns over the materials are surprisingly minimal.

More Equipment stories

The buttons themselves are standard Simagic items, so they’re functional if unspectacular, but they’re backlit and can be customised via the firm’s proprietary software, SimPro 3.

Likewise, you can edit the five-inch LED touchscreen in both SimPro and Sim Hub, with a default Valkyrie dashboard that offers immediate Aston Martin immersion.

The steering wheel chassis offers a strong magnesium-alloy foundation, and the quick-release alloy feels equally sturdy and secure. The Alcantara wrap is perhaps the star of the show for me, feeling cosseting and purposeful. It offers plenty of grip whether you’re wearing gloves or not, and it hides two buttons. These are recessed in the Alcantara and normally serve as the car’s horn buttons.

You can upgrade the aluminium rear-mounted paddles (one set of analogue clutches and a pair of conventional shifters) with Simagic’s Paddle Module Series. This lets you fit three pairs of paddles or use its innovative push-pull system. The shifting action is satisfying and accurate, similar to previous Simagic wheels.

Operation

At 320mm wide, the Valkyrie wheel fits comfortably for single-seater, prototype, and sportscar racing, with Alcantara offering racecar-like tactility.

For me, the ergonomics are mixed. The top eight face buttons (including the two hidden horns) and the five-way switches are easy to reach. Reaching the bottom switches and buttons is a bit of a stretch, however, and I need to take one hand fully off the wheel to operate them. Simagic isn’t necessarily responsible for the layout, though, considering the firm used Aston Martin’s CAD data to replicate the wheel’s dimensions.

Sticking with minor quibbles, I felt the switchgear is awkwardly shaped, and its stubby design is unsatisfying to use. They’re functional, but not intuitive (Aston Martin approved the colour change from black to silver, incidentally, though I’d have preferred the road car’s black switches).

However, it feels balanced when in use, with the screen sitting close to the centre of the chassis, and the bottom switchgear and buttons help keep the mass central. The whole package weighs 1718g, similar to Simagic’s FX Pro, but the latter has many more inputs and buttons (and costs $150 less).

Boxed, boxed, boxed

The striking green packaging leaves no doubt about its contents, with Simagic including its proprietary Air Link Wi-Fi system as standard and the MagLink Pro wired connection as an optional extra (which can connect to third-party wheelbases).

Air Link lets you edit the Valkyrie’s screen using Sim Pro or Sim Hub, so it is a vital part of the system. In a previous review of Simagic’s Zeus range of steering wheels, I described setup as relatively tricky, but ultimately worth it if you intend to stick with the company’s ecosystem long term.

Fortunately, because I’ve kept the Simagic Alpha Evo Ultimate on my rig since then, the Valkyrie wheel was a cinch to get up and running, and it has high-quality button stickers. Bonus!

Conclusion

The Valkyrie wheel is an intriguing step forward for Simagic, as it’s a licensed wheel made with premium materials. It’s also genuinely pleasant to use, despite the odd-shaped switches.

It’s supremely comfortable and looks purposeful, but it may lack enough inputs to rival other wheels at a similar price point. However, it stays faithful to the original design, though I couldn’t compare both side-by-side (my Valkyrie was away getting serviced, sadly…).

For $799, the price may seem steep, but compared to other licensed wheels, Simagic’s Aston Martin Valkyrie Steering Wheel is less compromised in terms of its construction. If you can live without oodles of buttons and want an attractive and immersive licensed product, the Valkyrie wheel is an easy recommendation. It’s available to pre-order now.

Simagic’s Aston Martin Valkyrie Steering Wheel will be available to try at this weekend’s SimRacing Expo Frankfurt, alongside its new KTM Xbow GT2 wheel and Active Pedal.

The SimRacing Expo Frankfurt takes place between the 16th and 18th October 2026. Tickets are available in advance or upon entry.
