The FIA’s free-to-play hill climb esports contest goes live on RaceRoom

• FIA Esports European Hill Climb Cup open for entries
• Competition can be entered on PC for free via RaceRoom Racing Experience sim
• Finalists eligible for in-person final in Luxembourg

The FIA’s esports hill climb collaboration with RaceRoom has officially got underway today (20th August 2026), with the competition open to everyone.

Better still, the hot-lapping contest is completely free to enter, with players tasked with piloting the BMW 1-Series-based (E82) 134 Judd V8 up the RaceRoom Hillclimb – Full Run layout.

The fastest eight drivers over the duration of the hot-lap qualifying phase, which runs until the 7th September, will be invited to an in-person final in Luxembourg (9th-11th October).

The FIA has advanced its esports efforts in recent years, with a formal sim racing inclusion in its International Sporting Code taking place in 2024. After this, it launched a ‘call to proposal’ to pave the way for more global esports competitions with interested commercial partners, and the FIA Esports Global Rally Tour, which will have an in-person final at the FIA Awards in Shanghai this December.
