Crazy Taxi: World Tour isn’t launching until 2027, but selected fans of the series can try out the online multiplayer before then.

Sega is hosting a closed online multiplayer beta for the Crazy Taxi reboot from 11th-13th September to test the game’s online stability. While entry into the beta isn’t guaranteed, registrations are open until 30th August on Sega’s website in selected regions.

The network test will feature two online modes: Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies, available to play in ranked or custom matches with cross-play support across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Pickup Race is a traditional Crazy Taxi game mode, with up to six players competing to drop off as many passengers as possible within the time limit. Meanwhile, Cops ‘N’ Cabbies splits players into two teams to compete against each other. These events will take place across two maps, with four selectable characters and six cars with tuning options.

Accompanying the online multiplayer beta announcement is a new trailer showcasing the West Coast map, the sunny, San Francisco-inspired setting from the first game reimagined with modern visuals. New novelty mini-games such as pizza delivery and fishing are also shown.

Like the original game, the destinations located around city will feature real-life brands, including IHOP and Amboeba Music. The original game featured brands such as Pizza Hut, KFC and Tower Records, but were removed in subsequent re-releases due to licensing.

While it won’t be accessible in the upcoming beta, the single-player campaign will feature five global locations, four of which have yet to be announced.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour is set to release in 2027 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
