As the name implies, Crazy Taxi: World Tour is taking the series across the globe, with five open-world cities to explore. Footage revealed so far has showcased the original game’s San Francisco-inspired West Coast map.
Now, Germany is the second confirmed location, revealed in a new trailer during the Xbox Gamescom conference.
The trailer shows series mainstay Axel speeding across cobbled streets in a German city, visiting a variety of landmarks including an airport, castles, a village and a holiday market with destructible stands. You can also weave through traffic along the high-speed autobahn. Puma and Zwilling are also confirmed as new branded shops.
You’ll encounter a host of wacky characters, with the trailer showing Axel picking up a card-flailing magician as a passenger.
“It’s all about journeys across the world, and to bring those international feelings,” series creator Kenji Kanno told Traxion at Gamescom, speaking about how the team is approaching the new locations.
“To build up the worlds was very important this time. I think it’s a new experience to have the [location] design from all around the world and to mix it into a better experience for the fans.”
These global locations will form part of a story campaign, which sees Axel hunt down his stolen taxi. Teases the campaign will have “surprises that [will make] fans think ‘oh, this is possible with a new game.”
Crazy Taxi: World Tour is set to launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 in 2027. Selected players can also join a closed multiplayer test between September 11th and 13th by registering before 31st August.
