Crazy Taxi is making a comeback next year with the release of Crazy Taxi: World Tour, and for the first time in the series, it will feature online multiplayer. During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Sega gave a sneak peek at the game’s multiplayer.

While no details were revealed about the multiplayer modes, the trailer shows four players speeding around the game’s San Francisco-inspired city, one of five locations in the final game, racing to collect fares.

Notably, the trailer confirms that drivers Gena, B.D. Joe and Gus will return from the original game alongside Axel.

Longtime fans will also recognise ‘Ten in 2010’ by punk rock band Bad Religion accompanying the trailer, which formed part of the original game’s soundtrack. Other returning songs in World Tour’s soundtrack include ‘All I Want’ and ‘Change the World’ by The Offspring as well as ‘Them and Us’ and ‘Inner Logic’ by Bad Religion, with more tracks still to be revealed.

While World Tour isn’t out until next year on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, Sega is hosting a closed multiplayer test between the 11th and 13th of September for select players, with applications open until 31st August.
