It’s the second week of Gran Turismo 7‘s Daily Races for 2023, and we have a mixture of Gr.3 and Gr.2 races this time round, complemented by an absurdly good French sportscar event.
The Daily Races can be found on GT7’s World Map, via the Sport Mode pavilion. Sport Mode offers ranked online racing where you will be placed in a similarly-skilled grid based on your previous performances.
As of the 30th of May update, your results in Race A will not affect Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR), so feel free to race as hard as you like. However, races B and Race C will still affect your DR and SR ratings.
If you’re a little hard-up for cash, then GT7 handily introduced a car renting feature (introduced with the 25th of April update), meaning it doesn’t cost anything to try an expensive new car. Handy for Gr.2 and Gr.1 races especially.
RACE A
The Alpine A110 is the subject of Race A this week and what a cracking little car it is.
Based on the classic rear-engined A110 of ’70s rallying fame, the A110 is a focused sportscar with excellent poise, low inertia and a beautiful aesthetic.
Said to weigh only around 1,100kg, the Alpine has a rather paltry 249bhp on tap. But don’t let that fool you – this is a potent performance car thanks to its lightweight nature.
If any proof of its sporting credentials were needed, legendary Formula 1 designer Gordon Murray is a proud owner of one, driving it daily. And he’s a man that knows a great car when he drives one.
Recommended car: Alpine A110 ’17 (Brand Central, 80,000 Credits or free rental)
Race B
In Race B we head to Alsace for a Gr.3 race. Using the 3.37-mile Village Reverse configuration, players should choose Nissan’s GT-R NISMO GT3 as their weapon of choice.
The rear-wheel-drive GT3 car never quite hit the heights it should have done in the world of GT racing but on its day was capable of great things (witness Alex Buncombe’s surge through the pack at Monza in 2014).
Recommended car: Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 ’15 (Brand Central, 450,000 Credits or free rental)
Race C
Gr.2s are the class of choice for Race C, and this is a perfectly-pitched battle between Japanese Super GT cars.
Using GT500 class cars specifically, Race C takes place at Autopolis, home of a round of Japan’s premier sportscar championship, Super GT.
Manufacturers like Honda, Nissan, Lexus and Toyota battle against each other using similar two-litre turbocharged engines producing around 650bhp. The racing is close and frenetic, but more to the point, fast.
Thanks to Autopolis’ curvy nature, players will need to look after their tyres owing to the 4x wear multiplier. Both Medium and Soft compounds need to be used during the race too. Fuel is less of a concern at 2x consumption, however.
The quickest car to pick for this one is Honda’s NSX CONCEPT-GT.
Recommended car: Honda NSX CONCEPT-GT ’16 (Brand Central, 800,000 Credits or free rental)
Lap Time Challenge
This fortnight’s Lap Time Challenge features Gr.4 cars at Sardegna’s Road Track C layout.
As has been the case with most of GT7’s Gr.4 Daily Races, the Subaru WRX is head and shoulders above the competition, making it our top pick to win you the most Credits.
A new Lap Time Challenge will become available on the 19th January 2023 at 7 am GMT.
Recommended car: Subaru WRX Gr.4 (Brand Central, 350,000 Credits)
