The ranked online Sport Mode races for this week include one of the most curious tracks in Gran Turismo 7 mixed with the slowest car.
Your guide to Gran Turismo 7's Daily Races, wc 27th March - Samba dancing

This week’s Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races make use of the strangest track in the game – Alsace Test Course Reverse – and pair it with the classic, glacial, Volkswagen Sambabus.

The estimated race length of 15 minutes seems optimistic…

Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races Sport Mode 27th March 2023

Sport Mode offers ranked online racing where you will be placed within races based on your previous performances. As per the current trend, your results in Race A will not affect your Driver Rating (DR) or Sportsmanship Rating (SR).

Here’s what you can compete in between 27th March and 2nd April 2023.

RACE A

Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races Sport Mode Volkswagen Sambabus

I struggle to understand the existence of the Test Course Alsace variant. Its hairpin at the top of the circuit is too steep as if it was made using some kind of rudimentary track editor.

Sure, it’s a fictional venue, so go crazy, but Polyphony Digital’s creations are generally grounded in reality, and this doesn’t feel that way.

In another even remotely close to brisk, this turn feels awkward and annoying.

So, I guess, if you must use it, plonk the slowest car in the game on it. Enter, the Sambabus.

It works too, carrying momentum up the climb and being as smooth as possible is key, alongside keeping a slipstream. Don’t forget to map a horn button too, it somehow feels appropriate to give a friendly beep as you overtake in the VW.

Recommended car: Volkswagen Sambabus Typ 2 ’62 (Used Car Dealership, 67,000 Credits or free rental)

Race B

Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races Sport Mode Suzuki Swift Sport Gr.4

The Brands Hatch Indy Circuit is arguably the jewel in Motorsport Vision’s crown, with its undulating surface, narrow confines and the ever-present threat of a pride-damaging incident.

That’s why the Gr.4 machinery is ideal for this track. They have the right balance of good grip and medium speeds – anything quicker around here is a little sketchy or two wide to make for great racing.

The front-wheel drive touring cars do well here, so the Peugeot RCZ, Audi TT or Suzuki Swift Sport. Go for any of those, and you’ll be in contention, mainly because the rolling start removes their disadvantage at the start.

Recommended car: Suzuki Swift Sport Gr.4 (Brand Central, 350,000 Credits or free rental)

Race C

Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races Sport Mode Mazda RX VISION

The chicane of death returns, but this time the other way around, which is certainly less lethal but still something to be wary of on lap one. Just don’t try to go side-by-side. Don’t do it. Please.

Using any Gr.3 of your choosing, there is a mandatory pitstop in this race as you must use both the soft and medium compounds at one point during the 10 laps. Do you start one medium and switch to soft for the end, or vice versa?

Personally, I’m a fan of letting the soft-shod hot-heads tangle into each other and then fire past them later in the race. However, if you’re on the front two rows of the gird, you may want to use the soft tyres at the start to try and make a break for it.

There are several cars to choose from here, as the Balance of Performance, works well at Dragon Trail. The VW Beetle, Mazda RX-VISION, Genesis X and BMW M6 will all work well. We’re recommending the Mazda in this instance simply to hear the rotary engine.

Recommended car: Mazda RX-VISION GT3 Concept (Gr.3) (Brand Central, 450,000 Credits or free rental)
