After a spate of social media teasers over the last few months, the long-delayed Wreckreation was shown at THQ Nordic’s Digital Showcase 2025 presentation, with a new trailer providing our first proper look at the game since 2023.
Developed by Three Fields Entertainment, a studio formed by Burnout creators Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry, the open-world arcade racer features a unique track creator, where players can build spectacular stunt tracks and add segments in real time with friends in ‘MixWorlds.’ With its emphasis on customisation, it looks like a cross between Burnout Paradise and Trackmania.
Whereas previous trailers have focused on the track builder, the latest showcases the game’s frenetic racing and vehicular destruction, evoking earlier Burnout games.
Wreckreation has come a long way. Compared to earlier showings, the visuals look noticeably more polished. Vehicle damage modelling is more advanced than Dangerous Driving too, with the trailer showing vastly improved vehicle deformation.

With cars crashing and flipping over in almost every frame in the trailer, the on-screen chaos certainly captures the spirit of the classic Burnout games.
Recent teasers on social media also confirm that classic modes like Road Rage, where the objective is to destroy as many rivals as possible, will return, alongside other series staples like takedowns and smashable billboards.
Originally known as Dangerous Driving 2, Wreckreation has suffered several delays since it was first announced in 2020.

Earlier this year, Three Fields announced that Wreckreation is in “finalling mode” after an extended silence. Since then, publisher THQ Nordic confirmed the game is “very much alive and in active development”. Coupled with a flurry of social media activity recently, the comments seemed to suggest that development is nearing completion.
Sadly, the trailer doesn’t confirm a release date or if Wreckreation is targeting a 2025 launch when it releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. As such, we won’t be surprised if the ambitious arcade racer slips into 2026.
If that’s the case, next year is shaping up to be a banger year for destruction-focused driving games, with Wreckfest 2, also published by THQ Nordic, expected to leave Early Access by March 2026.
