rFactor 2’s new competition system includes the new Race of the Season event, and the first battle is the BMW M4 GT3 at the new Daytona Int’l Speedway Road Course. Since the second week of February, hopeful drivers have gotten on rFactor 2 in hopes to qualify for the main event on 20th March.
The main event will be a timed race at 45 minutes in length. The Top 3 finishers will receive a neat trophy.
This is the first of its kind since the latest rFactor 2 update. The Race of the Season is a new venture for the new rFactor 2 Competition System race schedule.
The hope is to make these events a regular happening for the rFactor 2 community through the new structure. Anyone can try out and next season will feature a different car at a different track.
Both the Daytona track and the BMW M4 GT3 are new to rFactor 2, so the inaugural Race of the Season broadcast will offer something fresh for racing esports fans.
Some well-known names can be found at the top of the leaderboards. Qualifying is closed, with the final grid revealed during the broadcast. What we can say is that GT Pro Series 4 champion Jan Von der Heyde, Le Mans Virtual Series GTE round winner Timotej Andonovski and Burst Esports driver Michi Hoyer were quick enough to qualify.
The top 30 drivers have qualified for the main event on Sunday 20th March at 9:00 p.m. CET / 4:00 p.m. EDT. The action will be LIVE on Traxion.GG’s YouTube channel with Lewis McGlade and John Munro on the call. Tune in to the action, and don’t forget to keep it pinned!
