SCS Software shocked the sim racing community earlier this month when it revealed it was adding drivable cars and pickups to American Truck Simulator.
Best known as an enjoyably pure truck simulation, ATS is set for a new ‘Road Trip’ mode, which allows players to move away from the drudgery of running a logistics business toward a more sedate, exploratory gameplay style.
However, over the weekend, the Czech studio has reached out to its huge community of passionate virtual truckers to ask for help in making Road Trip a reality, requesting the use of a range of real-world vehicles to record accurate sounds.

The list of vehicles is interesting, to say the least, confirming that the likes of the 1967 Ford Mustang Thunderbird Special, the fourth-generation Toyota Supra and the Nissan GT-R are likely to form part of the new mode’s roster.

If you own any of the under-noted cars, SCS wants you to get in touch at [email protected], after which the studio will drive the car for a short distance and capture its audio from the exhaust, engine bay and cockpit, including transmission audio.
Naturally, the cars must be stock and will be very well looked after for the duration, with ‘possible compensation’ offered. Check out the full list below:
