Using its proprietary RendR graphics engine, DirectX 9, the free-to-enter PC sim racing platform isn’t known for having the most up-to-date visuals.

Last year, however, to coincide with some classic DTM content, it dramatically improved its rendering quality, clouds and effects – the first visual update in a number of years.

Now, the lighting seems like it will take another step forward and the overall visuals given a bump thanks to physically based rendering (PBR).

The single image of a DTM-liveried McLaren 720S GT3 Evo at the Nürburgring Nordschleife showcases the sun shining through background trees, plus what appear to be enhanced reflections on the car’s body.

No further information is provided, nor an estimated release date for the updates, but the ‘Graphics Engine improvements’ will be detailed tomorrow (19th June).

Then, a Q2 content update will also be detailed, which includes a new track, new Lamborghini liveries and two classic touring cars.
