If you are into racing video games or sim-racing, the chances are you’ve considered a Playseat. The Dutch creators of virtual racing cockpits has led the charge in recent years and offers supportive seating for those on PC, PlayStation or Xbox looking for a competitive edge.

Now, Playseat has announced two cutting-edge partnerships.

The first is with the FIA’s Rally Star esports programme. Offering one of the best prizes in all of esports – up to four years of paid rallying on the world sage – the competition aims to find the next WRC legend and the initial online qualifiers are available now within WRC 9.

“Their approach, combining quality and accessibility, matches the values of our programme. Perhaps, in a few years, we’ll have an FIA World Rally Champion who started in a Playseat® cockpit,” said FIA Rally Director, Yves Matton.

Not content with a rallying partnership, Playseat has also signed a deal with the burgeoning Red Bull Racing Esports squad. The team includes drivers such as Sebastian Job and Frede Rasmussen and is also the reigning 2020 F1 Pro Series Teams’ Champions.

The deal sees its Red Bull Racing Erena fitted with six Pro Formula rigs, as well as a Playseat Formula Intelligence. The partnership is much more than just equipment-based, as the drivers will provide feedback to Playseat, contributing towards future product development.

The first such example of this will be a new special edition Sensation Pro rig that will be available in a Red Bull Racing Esports livery later in 2021.

“As Playseat becomes even more ingrained in the Esports program, we are excited to activate our fan engagement projects, as well as providing the Erena with the best equipment. We look forward to giving our maximum support to all joint endeavours, as we take sim racing to an even broader audience,” said Founder and President of Playseat, Fernando Smit.
