The November 2021 update for the official World Rally Championship game, WRC 10, is now live and free for it – and it includes several significant additions.
The rally sim has evolved rapidly since its initial release, with several updates adding Ypres Rally Belgium and an updated co-driver mode amongst the highlights to date.
EKO Acropolis Rally of Gods 2021
A brand-new rally for the real-world WRC this season, and therefore some new free stages to rally through for WRC 10 players.
In all, there are nine stages to play through in all game modes. Some Greek stages were already fortuitously included in the game, as developer Kylotonn had created some for the Anniversary mode. However, these are now dedicated stages to replicate the 2021 WRC season.
Held in September, Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen won the 2021 EKO Acropolis Rally of Gods, now you can try to replicate this achievement.
Revised Clubs feature
The Clubs within WRC 10 allow you to form groups to take part in online rallies, something that was first added within last year’s WRC 9. Now this interface has been thoroughly updated and a new ‘Realistic’ mode is selectable.
Once you start a rally within the Clubs mode, if you spin or crash, there are no restarts – your time will be recorded on the online leaderboard regardless of your performance. This adds an extra level of jeopardy when you are competing and adds an extra sense of authenticity.
Damage will also have to be maintained and only rectified at service halts. One smaller new addition is the ability to set camera angles and driving assistance levels for club members.
Five new Anniversary events
The Anniversary mode within WRC 10 showcases some of the best moments in the WRC’s 50-year history. Expanded and update since launch, there are now five new events to play through.
- Argentina 1994: Didier Auriol / Bernard Occelli – Toyota Celica Turbo
- Argentina 2004: Carlos Sainz / Marc Martí – Citroën Xsara
- Deutschland 2002: Sébastien Loeb / Daniel Elena – Citroën Xsara
- Kenya 2000: Richard Burns / Robert Reid – Subaru Impreza
- Mexico 2016: Jari-Matti Latvala / Miikka Anttila – Volkswagen Polo
While this update lists there being ‘one new car’, see below, the Citroën Xsara used in the Deutschland 2002 Anniversary event is a different livery to that of the 2004/5 versions already included.
Richard Burns’ 2000 Subaru
Today marks 20 years since Richard Burns and co-driver Robert Reid won the 2001 World Rally Championship, and they remain the last British entrant to win the coveted title.
As you can see in the new Anniversary Events, one focuses on the pair’s win in 2000 at the Safari Rally in Kenya. This means the 2000-specification of the Subaru Impreza is now in the game for everyone to play.
The stout, two-door, Impreza is a fan favourite, and a 1997 specification variant driven by Colin McRae is already in the game, but only as paid DLC up until the point.
Various other bug fixes and refinements have also been addressed, as you can see in the full changelog below. As ever, we’ll keep you updated with each subsequent WRC 10 update.
