The upcoming Volume 2 update for Need for Speed Unbound will add new vehicles, challenges and online cops – but there will also be a host of quality-of-life features arriving via the same game update.
Make no mistake, Volume 2 combined with these changes makes this update the most significant for Unbound yet.
The entire patch notes are rather lengthy, which is pleasing, but among the main highlights is online multiplayer balancing.
Bigger multiplayer rewards
Unbound is known for players really having to work hard for cash, or ‘bank’, but once this update lands, the multiplayer playlists are said to be more forgiving. There will be increased base payouts for all playlists plus greater payouts that scale with higher player counts
This fits alongside the new, three, daily challenges which reset every 24 hours and also pay out.
Before this update, it was possible to downgrade Ferraris to several tiers to ‘B’, and that could give them an unfair advantage. Now, you can only reduce the performance of any vehicle down by one tier.
Greater flexibility
When in Lakeshore Online, you can now see via the in-game user interface how many people are in a server and what they are doing in real-time, for example, in Free Roam or a race event. Each district is now labelled on the mao, too.
Once a playlist has started, you can now swap cars to pick the ride to match certain races. Oh, once in a race, you can now skip music tracks using the D-pad. Winner. We’re not skipping Deal Wiv It by Mura Masa and Slowthai though, that one slaps.
From a visual customisation standpoint, the driving effects can now be changed on a per-car basis and not on a per-character basis. If you’d like, you can now match individual driving effects to match body shades.
The start of continued support
The full list is below, for the update that’s set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 21st March 2023 alongside the new Volume 2 content. It’s set to be the first in a series of significant patches and content additions throughout the year.
