The battle for sim racing wheel base supremacy continues, with Moza Racing reducing the price of its entry-level R5 range.
Making waves at its launch in August last year, the R5 is a direct drive sim racing wheel base with 5.5Nm of force and was made available alongside a budget ES Steering wheel and SR-P Lite pedals.
Sitting at the bottom of the Moza range, the R5 alone was priced at $349, or at an affordable bundle with the wheel, desk mount and pedals for $599 – at the time, a market-leading price.
This has now been reduced, with price reductions effective today, 8th March 2023.
The R5 wheel base drops from the aforementioned $349 to $319, while the bundle is now $529 instead of $599, a $70 saving. If you’d just like to buy the ES wheel, it has dropped $10 from $139 to $129.
It’s worth noting that the bundle includes the two-pedal SR-P Lite set-up, which is not a load cell, but you can purchase an optional clutch pedal and a Performance Kit that includes two springs and one damping block to provide higher brake pedal resistance.
In our original R5 kit review, we enjoyed its value for money and feedback but were concerned about compatibility with the existing Moza ecosystem. However, since then, the company has released ‘V2’ versions of its wheels, such as the GS V2, which works across this and all existing Moza wheel bases.
The price reduction follows the recent introduction of a Fanatec CSL DD bundle, plus Moza’s HBP handbrake and HGP H-Pattern shifter.
