Original Fire Games has just dropped the first gameplay footage of its new title Karting Superstars, showing the title’s stylised art direction and dynamic kart movement in action.

The 48s clip shows a kart race at the Siena circuit – already present in Circuit Superstars – with 11 AI cars battling a human-controlled kart in a three-lap race.

The handling looks to be weighty and suitably slidey enough to mimic the feel of a kart, while also retaining the cutesy appeal of Circuit Superstars.

Indeed, Karting Superstars uses the same Unity game engine as its predecessor, with both games sharing similar track furniture and aesthetic cues. Slipstreaming, which is a hugely important aspect of kart racing, also appears to be present in-game, enhancing realism while retaining the game’s stylised presentation.

Karting Superstars is available to Wishlist now on Steam, promising split-screen multiplayer, a career mode and comprehensive customisation and upgrade systems.
