How to access Forza Horizon 5’s Hot Wheels Expansion DLC

The first new Expansion DLC for Forza Horizon 5 is all about Hot Wheels, and as of yesterday (19th July 2022) Forza fans with it installed can enjoy the new content. There are a few different ways to get the new content, however, all depending on the version of the base game you have already.

Premium Edition

If you purchased the PREMIUM EDITION of the game already, which normally retails for $99.99/£84.99, you’re already set – apart from having to download the expansion, more on that later. Overall, if you have the Premium Edition, Premium Add-ons Bundle, Expansions Bundle, or if you decide to purchase it as a standalone product, you have access to this Hot Wheels goodness.

ATTENTION STANDARD EDITION GAME OWNERS

Those with the base game ($59.99/£54.99) have a few ways to go about getting the Hot Wheels Expansion DLC.

There are three added expenses you can choose from, the easiest and cheapest way being to shell out $19.99/£14.99 for the Hot Wheels Expansion DLC on its own.

Premium Add-ons Bundle or Expansions Bundle

The most inclusive one is the Premium Add-ons Bundle, which includes not only the Hot Wheels DLC, but will also give you the Welcome Pack, the Car Pass, the VIP Membership, and a future second Expansion. This retails for $49.99/£39.99, so it’s almost like buying the whole game over again.

If you don’t need all the extra stuff, or you own the Deluxe Edition ($79.99/£69.99) that already has the Car Pass, you might look at getting the Expansions Bundle. This leaves out the Car Pass, Welcome Pack and VIP Membership, but it does give the Hot Wheels and the future DLC for $34.99/£26.99.

WHAT ABOUT PLAYERS ON GAME PASS?

The STANDARD EDITION of Forza Horizon 5 is included for free with a Game Pass subscription.

Both the DLC alone and the Premium Add-ons Bundle are discounted for Game Pass members, the DLC costing $17.99/£13.49 and the Bundle $44.99/£35.99. The Expansions Bundle is not provided at any discount for Game Pass Members.

How do I download Forza Horizon 5’s Hot Wheels Expansion?

A patch should automatically download and install for you the next time you turn on your Xbox or open up Steam or the PC Xbox store.

But the Hot Wheels Expansion is separate. So visit the Xbox console store, Xbox PC store or Steam PC store and download it once your general game patch is installed.

The Steam version was initially directing players to the Xbox store to install the expansion, so if that is happening to you, visit the Steam store page for the Hot Wheels expansion and download from there.

SO WHAT DO I DO WHEN I GET IT DOWNLOADED, CAN I JUMP RIGHT INTO THE HOT WHEELS CONTENT?

Unfortunately, not right away. If you’ve been playing already, it’s as simple as finding the Hot Wheels Showcase – located north of La Gran Caldera – and completing that and the Hot Wheels Rookie Test. After that, your Hot Wheels Park adventure can fully take flight.

If you are just loading into Horizon 5 for the first time with the Hot Wheels DLC, there are a few extra steps, including completing some of the main storylines in the main game. The quick start guide from Forza’s Support Team is presented below.

That’s it! Once you’ve got it downloaded and you’ve got the prerequisites completed, you may roam around the new map freely, working towards a Legends Rank in the Hot Wheels Academy.

Also, when Series 10 of the Festival Playlist launches tomorrow (21st July 2022), look out for Hot Wheels DLC-specific tasks in the festival playlist. Stay tuned here at Traxion.GG as we’ll have even more Hot Wheels DLC content for those looking for guides to the new challenges. Keep it pinned!
