Gran Turismo 7’s October adds a van and more GT Sophy

Gran Turismo 7’s October update cars, GT Sophy and events confirmed

It seems like our spidey senses were tingling, as tomorrow’s (3rd October) Gran Turismo 7 update is about to deliver what many fans have been anticipating…

A Toyota van, but of course!

The 2016 Hiace (DX trim, no less) isn’t quick. It is unlikely to handle like a Ferrari. Nor is it cool.

But, if you can tune it well enough (an engine swap is available) and slap on a community-created livery, some online races with a field of boxes is the sort of incongruous fun developer Polyphony Digital is best at.

The only challenge is that there already is an upright minivan and capacious ambulance by the Japanese marque in GT7 offering much the same experience.

The same is true of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII and Nissan GT-R R35 which make up the rest of this update – there are already very similar examples presently available.

At least where the Nissan is involved, this is a recent facelifted version which is set to be this generation’s final iteration.

Further single-player content

Away from the small increase in vehicle roster will be five new race events to participate in, an ‘Extra’ Café Menu with a prize for owning three specific Audis and the ability to use Sony AI’s clever agent as a rival (GT Sophy) on two further tracks.

Chicago will be the featured scapes location too. We expect there to be a host of smaller, quality-of-life, tweaks too – all will be confirmed on the 3rd when the update hits both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
