Gran Turismo 7’s next update weighs in at over 30gb

The Gran Turismo 7 version 1.54 update can now be downloaded ahead of its release – and on PlayStation 5 at least, it is 32.071gb.

This is notably higher than other recent releases. Update 1.49, which included six cars, the Eiger Nordwand track and revised vehicle physics was just a smidge under 5gb, for example.

Server maintenance has been scheduled for the early hours of Thursday 21st November 2024, as expected. While the patch can be downloaded now, its new features will not be available in-game until this brief downtime is completed.

Five new cars will be part of the update, with a shady teaser at least confirming a Ford Escort Cosworth alongside several other possible candidates.

A dedicated PS5 Pro update is also anticipated with in-race ray tracing and ‘experimental’ 8K resolution. Judging by the size of this update, it could very well be the case that these enhancements are included – but we await the full changelog on the 21st for confirmation.

UPDATE – The cars and single-player events have been confirmed.
