Gran Turismo 7's latest Daily Races update adds an understeer-inducing combination

The final set of ranked Daily Races within Gran Turismo 7‘s Sport Mode before the ‘big’ update, which arrives later this week and features at least seven new cars.

None of them appear to be racing cars in Gr.4-1, however, so Race B and Race C stalwarts may be put off slightly unless something like the ‘race car for the road’ Porsche 911 GT3 RS is used for a DR-affecting race soon.

Speaking of which, Gr.4 at the Red Bull Ring and Gr.3 at Spa-Francorchamps are hardly original, so here’s hoping the next update livens up this particular mode somewhat.

You can find Gran Turismo 7’s Daily Races in the game’s Sport Mode; offering online ranked racing with players of a similar skill level based on previous performances.

Race A

Garage RCR Honda Civic SEMA

Alright, time for the ‘fun’ one. Race A, the Gran Turismo 7 equivalent of being able to let your hair down.

Willow Spring’s Horse Thief Mile layout, adjacent to the ‘main’ circuit, is wholly unsuitable to racing, but the seemingly never-ending succession of identical hairpins and sandy run-off.

But here we are, on track, in the tuned-for-SEMA Garage RCR Honda Civic with wheelspin in tow.

The key tip for this track is to go slower and brake earlier than you anticipate. No, not there, before. Nope, even earlier. Stay on track and pick up a solid result. The narrow confines will almost certainly mean some desperate last-lap dives. Don’t do that, and sweep by your rivals as they eat dirt.

Remember, while this won’t affect your driver rating, crashing into others will dent your safety rating.

Recommended car: Garage RCR Civic (Brand Central, 300,000 Credits or free rental)

Race B

MAZDA3 GR

Ardent Sport Mode drivers will roll their eyes in content with this combination – has there been a more over-used set-up? If you can think of one, let us know in the comments below or on social media.

The twist this time is that the anti-roll bar, damping compression and expansion plus natural frequency can be tweaked to your liking. So, not only will infinite laps in qualifying help you rise up the grid, but while you’re doing it tweak each of these settings to find the right balance.

In this category, the MAZDA3 Gr.4 is over-powered, but around here maybe you could pull a rabbit out of the hat with a different car and some subtle suspension tuning?

Recommended car: MAZDA3 Gr.4 (Brand Central, 350,000 Credits or free rental)

Race C

Toyota GR Supra race car, Gran Turismo 7

Spa and Gr.3 cars go together like pasta and pesto. The perfect combination. It’s just that it feels like we’ve been on a purely carb diet of late.

Much like Race B this week, the aforementioned four suspension parameters can be adjusted – so that does least open a window for some different results. You must also use both the soft and medium tyres at one point in the race, forcing it pitlane visit.

The Gr.3 cars are well balanced around here, so if in doubt we’d go 911 or Supra, but really, car choice isn’t a limiting factor here.

Recommended car: Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept ’18 (Brand Central, 450,000 Credits or free rental)
