The most ludicrous track in Gran Turismo 7, Special Stage Route X, returns to the Sport Mode Daily Races roster for the week commencing 9th October 2023.

Meanwhile, Race B makes use of the new Gr.4 Mazda 3 added via the recent version 1.38 update and Race C requires two opposite tyres – hards and softs.

Race A

Gran Turismo 7 Special Stage Route X crash

We love the custom car roster for Race A this week – 16 custom-tuned road cars, all designed to be equal, from Bugatti Chirons to Toyota Supras. The grid looks like a Tokyo car meet, minus the neon and cigarette smoke.

Another custom grid of similarly modified vehicles was used as a qualifying race at the recent in-person Gran Turismo World Series Showdown race, and we hope that template can be used more often for those at home.

The one-lap sprint around the world’s biggest ‘oval’ is a recipe for slipstreaming and impatience. You must stay with the lead group and try not the hit the front until the final corner. The challenge is, that some of the cars are not very stable around the baking, so smooth inputs are required.

Also, avoid the user ‘Bob’ who turned hard left wiping out half the field in this race…

GT7’s Sport Mode Sportsmanship Rating (SR) and Driver Rating (DR) are mercifully not used in this race…

Recommended car: Pagani Huayra ’13 (free rental)

Race B

Gran Turismo 7 MAZDA 3 Gr4 race car, Laguna Seca

Much like last week’s combinations within Sport Mode, there’s another chance to test out the most recent racing car for the game – the ‘MAZDA3 Gr.4’.

Even though any Gr.4 category vehicle is allowed here, we still think the novelty of a new motorsport-themed entry hasn’t worn off just yet.

The all-wheel-drive traction certainly won’t be needed for wet conditions, as Laguna Seca is devoid of rain within Gran Turismo 7 – although the Californian venue does seem to be permanently under blue skies in the real-world too.

Here, overtaking opportunities are at a premium, the final 90-degree left is perhaps the most obvious. Into the main opening corner too, although with the braking zone not in a perfectly straight line adds complexity. Otherwise, this is about keeping it clean and avoiding dipping your wheels onto the sand. Oh, and avoiding that last lap lunger who will be comping for you…

Recommended car: MAZDA3 Gr.4 (Brand Central, 350,000 Credits or free rental)

Race C

Gran Turismo 7 BMW M6 GT3 Wakins Glen

The longer layout of New York’s Watkins Glen is used for this week’s Race C, so dynamic weather is not a concern.

But, tyres are still key – you must use both Racing Soft and Racing Hard compound tyres at some point in the race. Using the hard rubber at the start should be generally the quickest way, but the selection is middle somewhat are you may get caught in open-lap traffic and lose out.

Much like Race A, this is the kind of set-up you witness in World Series events, and it can make for exciting races.

The BMW M6 seems to be the go here, with Sprint or Endurance not performance differentiated, but a Genesis, Supra or Corvette could easily be used to great effect in a closely balanced field.

Recommended car: BMW M6 Sprint/Endurance Model ’16 (Brand Central, 450,000 Credits or free rental)
