Forza Horizon 5’s monthly updates continue with yet another set of Festival Playlist challenges and several new cars.
Only this time, the updates include a brand new game mode and a giant maze…
The four new cars for Forza Horizon 5 are all free (there’s no new DLC pack this month either). To obtain them, you must complete weekly challenges within the next festival playlist.
The main series rewards for your efforts across four weeks are both returning vehicles:
- Nissan Tsuru ‘10 – 80 points
- Nissan Safari Turbo – 160 points
It’s in the weekly challenges the new cars appear, one for each week. Kicking things off is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III GSR from 1995.
If this homologation four-door compact saloon sounds familiar, that’s because it was also recently added to Microsoft’s circuit racing game, Forza Motorsport.
Next is something truly fresh, the current generation Subaru WRX. No longer using the ‘Impreza’ designation, and replete with gawky plastic body cladding, this is the quickest Subaru presently on offer.
Next up is a Japanese Domestic Market special, a Toyota Chaser. This humdrum-looking saloon has rear-wheel drive, electronic shock absorbers, a limited-slip differential and a twin-turbo 2.5-litre engine.
Finally, another car that hides its power beneath a dour exterior is the Volvo C30 Polestar. Before Geely spun off the performance division into an electric car brand, it fettled Volvos. While this isn’t the most extreme all-wheel-drive concept version, it does have a tuned five-cylinder generating a thunderous noise.
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III GSR ‘95 – summer wet season – 20 points – new
- HW Ford Mustang – summer wet season – 40 points
- Subaru WRX ‘22 – autumn storm season – 20 points – new
- Sierra 700R – autumn storm season – 40 points
- Toyota Chaser GT Twin Turbo ‘91 – winter dry season – 20 points – new
- 2JetZ – winter dry season – 40 points
- Volvo C30 Polestar ‘13 – spring hot season – 20 points – new
- Abarth 695 ‘16 – spring hot season – 40 points
Hide and Seek game mode
Unveiled during the Xbox Gamescom presentation last month, Hide and Seek makes its debut with the next Forza Horizon 5 game update.
Four-minute phases in this online multiplayer setup will see one driver try to hide on the map, while five others seek to find them.
Four vehicles will be available for those hiding, consisting of off-roaders and pick-ups, while seekers have more powerful sports cars and SUVs. Each side will also have special abilities.
17 badges can be unlocked by playing this mode.
Nike Jordan tie-in
Another announcement from Gamescom, and another shared asset between Horizon 5 and Motorsport, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Jordan Luka 3 Motorsport Edition arrives as a gift via the in-game message system.
Apparently, the design has been inspired by the Luka 3 trainers.
Stadium maze
The Mexican stadium has morphed into several differing environments during the game’s life to date. This month is no exception, with a giant maze added for four weeks. YOu can explore it, and also drive around it as part of the Festival Playlist challenges
Outfit and collectable
There’s another outfit to unlock, a bright pink affair, by completing one of the Playlist’s photo challenges/
Similarly, the collectable roster expands, with a fresh one hidden inside the aforementioned stadium maze.
