Forza Horizon 6 confirmed for PS5 in late 2026

Forza Horizon 6 hits Xbox Series X|S and PC 19th May, with a PS5 release set to follow in “late 2026.”

Forza Horizon 6 confirmed for PS5 in late 2026

Following its announcement at the Tokyo Games Show last year, the first gameplay of Forza Horizon 6 was showcased at Xbox’s Developer Direct show. From the deep dive, it’s shaping up to be everything fans were hoping for, with a spectacular open world set in Japan, a redesigned progression system and over 550 cars at launch.

For PC and Xbox Series X|S players, a release date was also confirmed for 19th May, with four days of early access for those who pre-order the Premium Edition from 15th. PlayStation 5 players will have to wait longer, however.

When it was announced last year, Microsoft confirmed that Playground Games and Turn 10 will bring the open-world racer to PlayStation 5 “post-launch” after PC and Xbox Series X|S, but it was unclear if it would still arrive in 2026.

Happily, Playground Games confirmed during the Developer Direct that Forza Horizon 6 will come to PS5 “later in 2026,” narrowing the release window.

“If you’re a Forza fan on PlayStation, we’ll be welcoming you to Japan later this year when our PlayStation version is ready,” said Design Director, Toben Ellert.

Presumably, Panic Button will helm the PS5 port after the studio worked on Forza Horizon 5’s PlayStation port, but this is not confirmed.

Microsoft has had considerable success with Forza Horizon 5 on PS5. Despite being a port of a nearly five-year-old game, the open-world racer reportedly surpassed five million sales, so it’s not surprising that the sequel is coming to Sony’s console sooner, rather than later.

It’s not the only open-world racer set in Japan heading to PS5 either, with both JDM: Japanese Drift Master and Tokyo Xtreme Racer being ported to the console next month to help ease the wait for Forza Horizon 6.
