  • Playground Games is back with Forza Horizon 6
  • Already expected in 2026, it has now been confirmed for the much-anticipated Japan setting
  • A Tokyo Games Show teaser unveiled the location and Mount Fuji as a prominent feature

Forza Horizon 6 is coming in 2026 – that much we knew already. It is also to be set in Japan, and that much we could only speculate about until now.

There was a them ahead of the most recent series entries that someone would ‘leak’ that it was set in Japan. But, ultimately, Horizon 4 was the United Kingdom and Horizon 5 was Mexico.

But it really is Japan this time, taking on the likes of JDM: Japanese Drift Master, Tokyo Xtreme Racer and CarX Street in one big, licensed, slickly produced open-world driving game.

A short teaser trailer was shown by Microsoft as part of its Xbox Tokyo Games Show presentation.

In it, the camera pans around a room, and references prior instalments – France and Italian number plates call back to Horizon 2, for example, while Mexican memorabilia is the fifth entry.

It then moves past a lucky Japanese cat figurine, before briefly showing Mount Fuji in the distance – an active volcano and Japan’s tallest peak. We can almost picture driving a tuned Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution to the top already.

Japan offers a vibrant and varied Forza Horizon 6 location

Near the mountain resides the sinuous toll road, the Hakone Turnpike, and so does the dense capital, Tokyo. Both could provide a contrast to the Japanese setting.

Naturally, it is confirmed to be part of the Game Pass subscription service.

Forza Horizon 6 first on Xbox and PC

A release window within the next year is not provided. What we do know, however, is that Forza Horizon 6 will be the first to skip Xbox One, and while it will come to PlayStation 5, it will release on Xbox Series X|S and PC ‘first, according to Microsoft. It will also be on the Steam PC alongside the Microsoft Store.
