23rd October 2012. Time flies when you’re having fun. That’s the North American and Australian release date for the very first Forza Horizon game on Xbox 360.
Back then, Microsoft was in its pomp, thanks to strong console says and, erm, Kinect.
In fact, the box art proudly touts that Horizon is ‘Better with Kinect Sensor’. It wasn’t. Still, the rest of the Colorado-set driving title did set the template for the following four games, reaching its zenith with 2021 Horizon 5.
Now, the first open-world Forza franchise spin-off will be celebrated on 11th October 2022 within the current title.
A fresh story for Forza Horizon 5 players
A new in-game story, following the likes of Drift Club Mexico and Made in Mexico, will appear on the map, celebrating a decade of the series.
Using the existing location, new challenges will be created to ape each of the prior four Horizon releases. Alongside this will be music from the older games too, with the best of the Horizon Pulse radio station.
The return of Midnight Battles
The race type ‘Midnight Battles’ for the third instalment will also be featured. These are head-to-head point-to-point events at night outside of the main Horizon Festival.
The car used to showcase this upcoming celebration is none other than the Dodge SRT Viper GTS in yellow with black stripes, the cover car for the 2012 game. We’ll keep you updated as further details are revealed.
