Czech developer SCS Software has released the v1.46 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2, coming just two days after a similar update to its sister title American Truck Simulator.
The two games share several improvements, including updated features like the company browser, gallery, ownable chemical trailers and a driveshaft torque menu option.
However, Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2) also boasts updates to its Iberia DLC map packs, which are only available to owners of the Iberia DLC.
We take you through all the new additions to the game below.
Iberia map update and localised road signs
For owners of the Iberia DLC, v1.46 will feature a new area – a heavy machinery service depot on the outskirts of Madrid. First seen in the Austria rework, the depot is operated by the fictional company ‘Construcciones Elcano’.
It has been possible to view the area from afar before, but now SCS has opened up a highway exit making it and a nearby settlement explorable for the first time.
SCS has also taken the opportunity to add region-specific road signage to the game in v1.46. This ensures that players get the full localised experience when trucking across the Iberian peninsula with its familiar green and white boards.
Ownable chemical trailers
Cistern trailers are nothing new in either American Truck Simulator (ATS) or ETS2, however, in anticipation of ETS2’s upcoming West Balkans DLC and its focus on the petrochemical industry, SCS has allowed players to purchase their very own chemical cistern trailers.
These can transport highly volatile chemicals like hydrochloric acid, oil and pesticides in-game – needless to say safe driving will be required! The trailers include two single-chain chassis types (two and three axle variations), with a range of customisation options, including:
- Chassis type
- Paintjobs (base and DLC)
- Markers
- Rear bumpers
- Mudflaps
- Hoses, water tanks, extinguishers etc
Custom city intros and driveshaft torque
Custom City Intros were introduced to ETS2’s Hannover and Austria reworks back in July this year and positive community feedback has led to their introduction to the game’s Iberia DLC. Custom city intros enable cutscenes showcasing the player’s starting city – as long as the starting city has a suitable garage.
A menu option for ‘driveshaft torque’ has also been added and when enabled simulates wheelspin when trucks accelerate. This will cause a “slight lift of the front left wheel,” according to the developers but should add another layer of immersion to the popular truck sim.
Company Browser and Gallery update
A company browser has been added to ETS2 for the first time, allowing players to search for specific industries, trailer types and destinations more easily. This allows players to plan deliveries better based on the trailer types and locations they wish to deliver to.
V1.46 of ETS2 also sees a new Gallery mode that tracks all players images, photo trophies, and discovered viewpoints. It retains the game’s previous screenshot manager feature but adds the possibility of gaining ‘photo trophies’.
Photo trophies are achievements given for taking pictures of in-game landmarks or points of interest which can be found via special icons on the in-game map.
The team at SCS Software has also improved the user interface of the screenshot uploader feature, ensuring it’s much easier for players to view and upload their favourite screenshots to the World of Trucks servers.
