Two days after American Truck Simulator gained its v1.45 update, its sister title, Euro Truck Simulator 2, has followed suit (28th July 2022) with its very own upgrade. The developer of the two games, SCS Software, has been hard at work implementing some of the improvements already seen in American Truck Simulator (ATS).
New features shared between the two include ownable tank trailers, rain-sensing wipers, as well as options to hide inaccessible roads and missing mod support in Convoy mode. However, there are a couple of interesting new items exclusive to Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2).
Hannover rework
The historic German city of Hannover gets a rework in v1.45, adding a fresh coat of polish in a similar vein to ETS2’s recent Linz and Innsbruck updates.
The city’s famous Fairground area has been re-created in-game on a near 1:1 ratio, so SCS Software’s appearance at the IAA Transportation Trade Fair on the 20th of September could produce some interesting news for truck sim fans.
Custom city intros
When starting a new profile in an Austrian city or Hannover, players can now expect to see a special cutscene introduction of their new base of operations. SCS Software has previously stated this is a feature they’d like to implement across the board in ETS2, so expect more cities to follow suit in future.
New Krone vehicles and Production Plant
Krone Trailer Pack DLC owners will receive two new trailer types as a free update in v1.45 – the Profi Liner Building trailer and the Paper Liner trailer.
The update also comes with Krone-themed paint jobs, side skirts, pallet boxes, tire stores and bumpers to personalise your truck, with five decorative Krone cabin items.
Players can also make and pick up deliveries from the newly-added Krone Production Plant in Werlte – but only if they own the Krone DLC.
JOST fifth wheels
JOST is a leading trailer coupler manufacturer based in Germany. All unbranded fifth wheels in ETS2 will now become one of JOST’s fifth wheel variants, with the roll-out happening in two phases.
The first phase updates the fifth wheels on the MAN TGX Euro 6, Mercedes-Benz New Actros, Renault T, Scania Next-Gen S, Scania Next-Gen R and Volvo FH 2012 trucks.
