Following a disappointing start to a fresh licensing agreement between the FIM Motocross World Championship and Nacon two years ago, the MXGP games will return later this year.
MXGP 24 was the first release as part of a multi-year contract between the sport and the French publisher.
However, created by Artefacts Studio in collaboration with KT Racing, the first effort was beset by dowdy visuals and uncompromising motorcycle dynamics – a far cry from the efforts by previous creator Milestone.

However, Traxion spoke to Nacon last year, who was humble in its assessment and explained it had taken a year off to attempt a step forward upon its return.
Now, it has been confirmed that it will be coming back with a new instalment in 2026, with an unveiling next month.
“You will hear more about MXGP next month,” said Sébastien Waxin, Head of Racing and Motorsport at Nacon, during a News From The Pits presentation.
“Let’s talk a little bit with our off-road fans. So, MXGP first, for motocross, there will be news coming and a reveal coming next month.
“The game will release this year.”

In May of last year, Waxin stated the following to Traxion:
“We were also not fully satisfied about the first game [MXGP 24], so we said, ‘okay, let’s take a short break, restart the game and come back with something stronger’.
“So this is what we are working on now, and that’s why we’re not talking too much about the MXGP licence.
“But don’t worry, it’s being worked on, and it will come back soon.”
