MXGP 24 lands on PC and consoles today

After a three-year break, the official MXGP game series is back with a new developer at the helm.

Motocross racing fans rejoice: today marks the release of MXGP 24: The Official Game, which lands on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, albeit with little fanfare or marketing.

After a three-year break, the official MXGP game series is back with French studio KT Racing, the developer of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, at the helm, taking over from Milestone. A partnership with Nacon will see KT Racing develop MXGP games until at least 2028.

As you would expect, MXGP 24 features the official bikes and riders from the 2024 Motocross World Championship, such as Jorge Prado, Jeffrey Herlings, Maxime Renaux and Andrea Adamo.

MXGP 24 features 19 tracks from the 2024 calendar at launch, with a final race set to be added for free “a few days after the launch,” with a release date has yet to be confirmed. A 4 km² free-roam area provides additional challenges and collectables, while a career mode sees you progress through the MX2 and MXGP categories.

KT Racing promises a “high degree of realism”, with weather effects and deformable tracks as bikes carve through the dirt.

A pre-order trailer released earlier this month spelt cause for concern, with underwhelming visuals and a lack of AI rivals shown in gameplay. The new launch trailer looks more promising, but KT Racing hasn’t developed a bike game since 2014’s Motorcycle Club.

We’ll find out soon how KT Racing’s first foray into motocross racing fares – look out for our MXGP 24 review soon.
