New Zealand-based development studio Flightless has unveiled its newest project; a cutesy, free-to-play kart racer focusing on vehicular combat and multiplayer squabbling.
Available for PC via Steam’s Early Access program, Monster Racing League features the titular monsters from the game’s title as they battle their peers on track using collectable abilities like boosts, EMP bursts, missiles and even giant sets of false teeth (yes, teeth).
As well as avoiding gnawing gnashers, players can customise their monsters and vehicles too, with helmets, horns, faces and armour all editable, and more content arriving in the form of DLC including the Premium Monster Supporters Pack ($14.99) and forthcoming Premium All Time Pass ($9.99).
Monster Racing League is set to receive an entertaining ‘Streamer Mode’ too, enhancing the spectator experience with custom cameras, perfect for sharing the game’s short and sharp explosive action with viewers online.
Tracks come in two distinct flavours, with traditional circuits backed up by rally-style point-to-point stages, and the promise of more to arrive in paid-for DLC packs.
Markedly, with outlandish weapons, frenetic multiplayer action and a stylised, isometric viewpoint, Monster Racing League is the Mario Kart/Circuit Superstars mash-up we didn’t know we needed, and it’s available to download and play now for PC via Steam.
