SCS Software has announced that the v1.48 Open Beta of its therapeutic truck game American Truck Simulator is available to download and try now.
The new free update will add several new features and content additions to the game, with the Texas DLC pack receiving some attention in the form of over 500 miles of real-world roads, including new settlements.
Two new Special Transport routes will be added too, opening up oversized delivery routes between Laredo and San Antonio in Texas and Laurel and Billings in Montana (for owners of the respective DLC packs).
In terms of the game’s UI, SCS plans to upgrade its in-game controller input wizard system, restructure the way mod files work with multiple DLCs and enhance the way players’ map exploration is tracked, among other improvements.
New cargo types have also been teased, with the game’s upcoming Oklahoma DLC pack being used to showcase forthcoming changes. New cargoes include air conditioning units, articulating/telescopic boom lifts and electrical transformers.
The v1.48 Open Beta is available to try now for PC via Steam. To sample it, right-click on the game icon in your Steam Library, select ‘Properties’, then ‘Betas’ and pick the ‘Public Beta 1.48’ option
