VPG Sim has showcased its upcoming Porsche Cup steering wheel, which will be manufactured alongside the new 2026 Porsche Cup rims.

High-end sim racing steering wheel manufacturer VPG Sim has just launched its latest product: an officially licensed Porsche Cup steering wheel.

And in what’s thought to be a first for the sim racing space, the new wheel was revealed alongside its real-world counterpart, which features in Weissach’s latest one-make series challenger: the 992.2 911 GT3 Cup.

Set to debut across Porsche’s Cup series in 2026, including the Formula 1-supporting Porsche Supercup, the 992.2 was unveiled alongside the marque’s latest GT3 contender, the 911 GT3 R, which is also set to debut next year.

Controversially, the new GT3 Cup car will feature traction control and anti-lock braking systems for the first time, narrowing the gap between its Cup and GT3 offerings. However, the large TC and ABS rotary switches, combined with its 309mm diameter, mean the new VPG wheel will be ideally suited to virtual GT3 racing.

VPG has released similar real-world crossover steering wheels in the past, including a Ford Mustang GT3 rim, collaborating with renowned F1 and GT3 steering wheel supplier bf1systems in the process.

Features

As you’d expect, VPG’s Porsche 911 Cup wheel is constructed from premium materials, with a carbon fibre chassis housing advanced electronics and obligatory RGB LED-encircled buttons. The wheel is also manufactured in the same Zuffenhausen facility as those assigned to the firm’s real Cup cars.

There are 76 mappable inputs, including 10 buttons on the front of the wheel and two to the rear. It also features two seven-way funky switches, a pair of shifter paddles and four 12-position rotary switches, all constructed from aluminium and illuminated by LEDs.

The wheel weighs just 1.03 Kg and is compatible with VPG’s proprietary clutches add-on kit, with a four-pin rear connector for Asetek QR integration included. More information is listed below.

“The 911 Cup Car got a new wheel, so did the sim world. The difference is that this time they were born together,” stated a VPG representative.

The VPG 911 Cup sim steering wheel will be made available from October, priced from £1199 ex VAT.
