It follows a significant wait since the Gran Turismo 7‘s last content-adding update, which was way back at the start of August. Now, however, the wait is nearly over, as series producer Kazunori Yamauchi has posted the now-customary teaser to social media.
We’ve dug out our magnifying class, and we think these are the following cars arriving next week, 28th September 2023.
Honda Civic Type R FL5
The 11th generation of Honda Civic and the sixth generation of Honda Civic Type R is set for its Gran Turismo debut.
The ‘FL5’ model replaced the ‘FK8’, that is already within the game, last year.
On the face of it, it may be seen as a little downgrade. After all, it moves from 20-inch to 19-inch wheels, uses the same 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and it’s around 40kg heavier. Plus, it’s now a whopping £47,000 in the UK, a significant increase.
But, thankfully, the rather daft bodywork addendum has been toned down for a more sophisticated design and it has a wider track with specifically pressed body panels (as opposed to extra plastic trim). Also, red flocked carpets. Got to love that. Around both Suzuka and the Nürburgring Nordschleife it has set new front-wheel-drive production car lap records.
Phil Robles’ modified 1992 Honda Civic EX
This modified ’90s Honda Civic is rather pivotal, as it marks the completion of the Gran Turismo SEMA award winners.
No longer a feature of the Las Vegas-based tuning and car modifying show, there was a yearly award handed out by Polyphony Digital to a car that caught its eye. Then, eventually, the winner would be within a Gran Turismo game.
18 winners were determined between 2003 and 2018, and every single one has been turned into a virtual representation but this, the 2017 victor. Now, the set is to be completed.
It’s got a wide-body overhaul, a K-series engine swap and a sequential gearbox. It joins the recently added Roadster Shop Rampage and the Wicked Fabrication GT 51, Greening Auto Company Maverick, GReddy Fugu Z, Chris Holstrom Concepts 1967 Chevy Nova and Eckert’s Rod & Custom Mach Forty as SEMA-winners within Gran Turismo 7.
Mazda 3 racing modified
The current generation of Mazda 3 is already represented within Gran Turismo 7, however, now it seems the game will be receiving a racing-modified version.
Believed to be within the Gr.4 category, although not yet confirmed, it will mark a fresh addition to the racing categories – a relief to those who compete in the two weekly ranked Daily Races that more often than not use Gr.3 or Gr.4 machines.
This car was recently spotted at a recent Japanese Mazda Spirirt Racing esports event, with several visitors sharing to X footage of it in action.
This Mazda competes within the ST-Q class of the Super Taikyu Series fuelled by… biodiesel. Let’s see what the in-game car runs on, later this week.
The next Gran Turismo 7 update will hit 28th September 2023, and we’ll keep up updated with any quality-of-life or further potential content additions throughout the next week.
