Originally launched for PC Assetto Corsa Competizione racers in mid-April, in a little over two months, those with the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will also soon be able to experience the latest changes. The update and additional DLC will release for both devices on 27th June 2023.
Version 1.9 includes a new method of simulating bump stops within the suspension system and a way of removing the maximum negative toe set-ups. This is combined with a new tyre model that uses a wider range of temperatures and pressures. The net result is more lifelike kerbs behaviour and tyre wear.
Also part of the update is a re-engineered Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo. While not a separate vehicle on the select screen, it’s effectively a new vehicle under the skin.
Following the launch of the changes on PC, the latest Evo-spec McLaren 720S GT3 was added for free. Console players will receive this and at the same time as v1.9.
The update will also include a number of hotfixes, up to a point, already launched on PC, and then once released, porting developers Untold Games will work to incorporate both future PC tweaks and anything specific to the consoles.
“Any [further] updates that come to PC, will [also] come to console,” explained Brand Community Manager for Assetto Corsa at publisher 505 Games, Ben McConnell, to Traxion.GG.
“Because the relationship is so good [between Kunos and Untold Games], the speed of these updates come out is going to be quite rapid.”
Then there’s the paid-for 2023 GT World Challenge DLC which includes the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Spain, and three GT3 cars in the form of the latest Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini models. The latter also includes a new game mechanic in the form of adjustable engine brake maps.
Console pricing has not yet been unveiled for the pack, available next week. On PC it costs €12.99/$12.99/£10.99.
Previously, the wait for console owners has been significantly longer. Last year, it took eight months for the Challengers Car Pack and five months for the American Track Pack to hit PlayStation and Xbox devices.
You can hear more about the conversion process, and why it’s now quicker, by listening to the latest episode of the Traxion Podcast with publisher 505 Games’ Ben McConnell who is Brand Community Manager for Assetto Corsa.
