Assetto Corsa Competizione console players had to wait a long time for the game-changing v1.8 update – nearly a year in fact. However, alongside its release at the end of September came further news that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S editions would receive two DLC updates in November this year.

Today (10th November 2022), Assetto Corsa Competizione’s (ACC) publisher 505 Games has announced the release of both the Challengers Pack and American Track Pack on console.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ACC Challengers Pack contents

The Challengers Pack brought five new cars to ACC – the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992), the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo, the BMW M2 CS Racing, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 and the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II.

All except the GT3 class Audi belong to their own single-make racing series, with the BMW being the first entrant in a new TCX class. The Lamborghini and Porsche will be familiar to ACC players already as they are newer versions of existing cars, while the Ferrari Challenge car is a powerfully wild addition to ACC’s car roster.

On its PC release, we were won over by the sheer variety of the content on offer and its relatively low price of £9.99. Undoubtedly our favourite car was the Porsche. Its poise and brutality gave us that ‘just one more lap’ feeling, thanks in part to a lack of traction control.

We were less enamoured with the Lamborghini and Audi, as they felt too much like their in-game predecessors to be truly special.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ACC American Track Pack contents

The American Track Pack brought three of the USA’s most recognisable circuits to ACC to the PC in June this year – Watkins Glen, Indianapolis Road Course and the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

In our review, we felt that Watkins Glen would be a sure-fire hit with ACC fans, while COTA was a surprisingly engaging. We were less enthusiastic about Indianapolis but this is more to do with its frustratingly twisty layout.

What cannot be denied, however, is that all three tracks were beautifully modelled in-game, so hopes are high for the Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions. On, PC the American Track Pack cost £14.99 at time of release.

ACC’s console ports have endured a tricky time, with the game’s PlayStation 4 and Xbox One iterations ceasing development completely soon after release.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions have also come under fire for frequent multiplayer issues and general bugginess, something console port developers Untold Games will be hoping to address.
