With EA Sports F1 23 releasing on 16th June, and the pre-orders now being live, there are several ways of picking up the game ahead of that date or even previewing it ahead of time.
What EA Play, Game Pass or simply purchasing the digital-only Champions Edition, here are all the methods where you can drive in F1 23 before the majority of people – excluding the Closed Public Beta, where sign-ups have now closed.
Pre-order the F1 23 Champions Edition
While the main game releases on 16th June 2023, the digital-only Champions Edition comes with three days of early access and therefore launches on the 16th June.
Pre-orders are live now for PC, PlayStation and Xbox for this version, which carries a $20/£20 price premium of the standard edition, but it will unlock on the 16th June. It also includes the following digital bonuses:
- Time-limited Las Vegas content (pre-order before 31st May 2023)
- Max Verstappen Race Wear Pack
- Braking Point 2 Icons and Vanity Item Pack
- Dual Entitlement
- Four new My Team Icons
- XP Boost
- F1 World Bumper Pack
- 18,000 PitCoin
Who doesn’t love unclear digital bonuses, right? We’ve pumped for the Vanity Item Pack…
Anyway, to reiterate, the Champions Edition isn’t available in physical form, and it will remain on sale after the release of the Standard Edition. It’s the only version that comes with dual digital entitlement too.
EA Play Pro subscription
Those who subscribe to EA Play Pro will have access to the Champions Edition from the 13th June, including all of its bonus digital content.
EA Play Pro is the game publishers’ top subscription tier, and to be clear, is not part of Game Pass. Available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, EA Play Pro is a monthly subscription service that allows full access to a library of current EA titles.
Unlike a lower tier ‘EA Play’ subscription, where plays must wait a number of months before games are added to the library, EA Play Pro’s Play List includes every Electronic Arts published title from the day they launch.
EA Play Pro costs $14.99/£14.99 per month or $89.99/£89.99 per year.
EA Play and Game Pass Ultimate five-hour early access trial
EA Play subscribers can try up to five hours of F1 23, for no additional charge, from the 13th June 2023, three days ahead of the standard edition releases.
A subscription is included within the PC and Ultimate tiers of Game Pass too, although not the entry-level base console-only tier of the service.
EA Play is a pay-per-month service on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, which allows users access to a library of games – although, unlike the EA Play Pro tier, not from day one release – but also a limited-time trial of new-release games published by the American gaming giant.
So, for F1 23, on the 13th, EA Play users can download the full game and play any part of it for up to five hours, but after that time, you will be locked out unless you purchase the full digital game.
EA Play costs $3.99/£3.99 per month, or $19.99/£19.99 each year. Meanwhile, Game Pass on PC is $9.99/£7.99 per month and Game Pass Ultimate is $14.99/£10.99 per month.
Is F1 23 on Game Pass?
The base F1 23 is not included in Xbox Game Pass at this time, however, those who subscribe to Game Pass on PC or have the Ultimate Tier will have access to an early five-hour trial on the 13th June 2023 thanks to EA Play.
However, F1 22 is included under the EA Play umbrella at the time of publication.
Based upon both F1 2021 and F1 22, we expect F1 23 to also be part of EA Play’s Play List (library) within the first quarter of 2024 – although this is not confirmed currently.
F1 23 EA Play Bonus XP
As a final addition, those who subscribe to either EA Play or EA Play Pro will receive 5,000 bonus XP within F1 23 each month – until, presumably, F1 24 is released.
