David Greco, the former racing driver turned video game handling lead, has left the Electronic Arts-owned Codemasters studio to join an as-yet-unannounced startup.

Greco has worked on vehicle handling for the official Formula 1 video games since 2014 when he started as a Car Handling Designer for the Birmingham-based studio.

In 2019, he moved up to be the Senior Designer pertaining to vehicle handling and was often interviewed on the build-up to the latest F1 game release, explaining changes from year to year.

His departure rounds out a near nine-year run working on the F1 titles. According to a public LinkedIn post, he moved to a new ‘Unannounced Startup’ in February of this year as Principal Vehicle Dynamics Designer.

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Principal Vehicle Dynamics Designer @ Unannounced Startup!” said Greco.

What this ‘Unannounced Startup’ is exactly, rather obviously, remains to be seen. However, Greco joins several former Playground Games and Sumo Digital developers who have worked on the Forza Horizon series in moving to the new venture.

The news comes in the run-up to the next release in the yearly series – EA SPORTS F1 23.
